Okoni’s workshop operates over 15 diverse machines, cutting, assembling, printing, and more. To ensure safe and effective use, all users receive training on each machine’s operation. This training phase is crucial to understand the unique functions and requirements of every device.

To support ongoing learning and promote best practices, I designed clear, highly visible signage for each machine. These signs communicate essential information including operational guidelines, safety rules, recommended materials, and proper handling techniques. They also empower users to react appropriately to machine interactions and maintain good storage habits.

To maximize durability and ease of updating, I redesigned the production process using UV printing on woven fluorescent tapes. These materials are cost-effective, easily replaceable, and highly legible within the workshop’s environment.

The color coding reinforces the signage’s clarity: neon yellow highlights storage actions, while neon pink details machine-specific usage instructions, allowing users to quickly grasp operational imperatives.

Additionally, illustrated characters depict typical workshop users demonstrating proper safety gear and behaviors. This relatable approach encourages compliance through a sense of community and proximity.

Ultimately, the signage aims to foster greater independence and confidence among all workshop users, making the space safer and more efficient for everyone.

The characters represented in the safety measures and the protections to wear (depending on the machines or the spaces) represent the regular users of the workshop, to advocate good behavior thanks to a principle of proximity.

The overall idea of this signage is to make each individual using the place and its machines more independently.
