Following a workshop with renowned paper engineer Bernard Duisit, I embarked on the complete creation of a pop-up book, from concept to final production.
The book spotlights the crowned gray crane, an iconic African bird, presenting its life cycle, habitat, and behavior. Through intricate paper mechanisms and layered illustrations, readers explore scenes from the cranes’ world: elaborate courtship dances, egg incubation, and vigilant parental care.
Each page invites active engagement, encouraging readers to shift their gaze, change their perspective, and physically interact with the book to reveal hidden details. The combination of artistic design and interactive storytelling transforms the reading experience into an intimate encounter with this remarkable species.
This project blends wildlife education and creative paper engineering, making it both a learning tool and a collectible art object.
