At the end of 2020, I learned I was going to become an aunt. To create a personalized and meaningful gift for both the happy parents and their baby, I proposed designing a custom mobile to hang above the cradle.
My goal was to craft a cheerful mobile featuring bright, warm, and primary colors to stimulate the baby’s senses. After exploring several ideas, I chose a unique theme that blends Greek and Egyptian mythology, symbolically watching over the newborn’s sleep.

Design and Production Process
I illustrated six divine figures alongside thematic objects such as amphorae, lotus flowers, stars, and lightning bolts. The illustrations were created digitally using Procreate.
Once finalized, I prepared the print-ready files for laser cutting on birch wood. After precise laser cutting, each piece was lightly sanded and then printed with vibrant colors using UV printing technology.
Parallel to the illustration process, I researched and built a solid, cradle-compatible support structure for the mobile. Using beech wood for the trunnion and oak for the cleat, I shaped the components with a panel saw, drill press, and sander to ensure durability and aesthetic harmony.

Assembly and Balance
The final phase involved carefully assembling the mobile. To achieve perfect balance, I weighed each element and grouped them into visually coherent and weight-matched sets. The pieces were then suspended by strings, creating a harmonious and dynamic mobile designed to delight and stimulate the newborn.
